Three members of the Mylan WTT Family advanced to their respective doubles finals at the Ricoh Open in s-Hertogenbosch on Friday.
Kirsten Flipkens of the New York Empire joined forces with Dominika Cibulkova to ease past third-seeded Xenia Knoll and CoCo Vandeweghe 7-6(5), 6-2. The Belgian-Slovakian pair created 13 break points, converting four opportunities to clinch the win in one hour and 22 minutes. Flipkens is through to her second doubles final of the year, having finished runner-up in Nuremberg (w/Larsson). She is seeking her second career WTA doubles crown.
San Diego Aviators’ tandem Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram edged Australians John Peers and Jordan Thompson 7-6(4), 7-5 to reach their third final in 2017. Klaasen and Ram, seeded second in Den Bosch, will look to add to earlier season triumphs in Delray Beach and Indian Wells when they battle No. 1 seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo.
Bruno Soares (Washington Kastles) and partner Jamie Murray also moved through to their third final on the year, defeating Marcin Matkowski and Max Mirnyi 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-6 in the Stuttgart semifinals. The two await the winner of Saturday’s semifinal between fellow Kastles Bob and Mike Bryan, and Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic.
In Nottingham, Yanina Wickmayer (Orange County Breakers) and Johanna Konta took down third-seeded Hao-Ching Chan and Casey Dellacqua 6-0, 7-6(6). Wickmayer and Konta saved all six break points they faced in the 69-minute victory. Following Konta’s singles match on Saturday, the two will square off against Aussies Monique Adamczak and Storm Sanders.
