17:   Andy Roddick

(Idaho Sneakers 2000; St. Louis Aces 2001 - 2003 & 2005; Philadelphia Freedoms 2010)

Andy Roddick was the world’s No. 1 junior tennis player when he joined WTT’s Idaho Sneakers at the age of eighteen in 2000. Roddick’s powerful serve and huge forehand impressed WTT fans, but his personality and sense of humor made him a quick fan favorite. After playing his first WTT season with the Sneakers, Roddick became a mainstay on the St. Louis Aces’ roster. Roddick followed his third season with the Aces with a thrilling U.S. Open victory, claiming the men’s singles championship in 2003. Roddick experienced incredible growth during his time as a WTT player; he began his WTT career as a teen sensation, but transformed into one of the game’s top players after several WTT seasons.

Roddick, who named his bulldog Billie in honor of Billie Jean King, is also a regular participant in World TeamTennis’ annual charity event, WTT Smash Hits.  He also remains committed to the concept of team tennis, often participating in Davis Cup matches alongside fellow WTT players James Blake, Bob Bryan, Mike Bryan, and Sam Querrey.
