WTT Rec League National Finals Field Set for Indian Wells

National Championships in nine divisions to be determined, Nov. 2-4

Indian Wells, Calif. (November 1, 2012) --- This weekend, 51 teams and almost 450 players will compete for the national championships in nine divisions when the WTT Rec League National Finals take place Nov. 2-4, at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.  View Day 3 Results, Day 2 Results, Day 1 Results!

After a competitive national qualifier season between February and October of this year, teams advanced by winning regional titles in their respective divisions at eight tournaments across the country.  Squads from 15 states and Puerto Rico will be traveling to Nationals, some first-time regional titlists and other returning national qualifiers.

Titles in the following divisions will be up for grabs:  3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, Senior 3.5, Senior 4.0, Senior 4.5, Super Senior 3.5 and Super Senior 4.0.  Unlike last year, the Corporate Nationals are not being held in conjunction with the Rec Nationals, as they were played earlier this fall at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, S.C.

The field includes a host of teams from California, including the local Roadrunners, of Indio, Calif.  Team members are Alan Chevrefils (captain), Indio, Calif.; Debbie Galeazzi, Cindy and Larry Le Roy, all of La Quinta, Calif.; and Rosalinda Benotti and John Jensen, both of Rancho Mirage, Calif.  There are also two teams from Orange, Calif., in the 3.5 Division; teams from Encinitas and Irvine in the 4.0 Division; teams from Rancho Santa Fe and Aliso Viejo in the 4.5 Division; and several other California-based teams in the Senior and Super Senior Divisions as well.

Tennis competition will kick off at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, with a Wilson clinic for tournament participants and player party being held later that evening.  Play resumes on Saturday at 8 a.m. with final matches set for Sunday morning beginning at 8 a.m. Admission to all WTT Nationals matches is free.

All matches will be played using the WTT format, a fun, fast-paced coed team format that encourages equal contributions from both genders.  A team has a minimum of four players, two men and two women.  The WTT format uses five or six no-ad sets: men’s and women’s doubles, men’s and women’s singles and one or two sets of mixed doubles.
