LEAGUE STATEMENT ON LAS VEGAS FRANCHISE TERMINATION – Wednesday, March 5, 2014
World TeamTennis has terminated the franchise agreement with Capital Sports Management LLC regarding the Las Vegas Neon professional tennis team, effective immediately due to the franchisee’s failure to meet its franchise obligations to Mylan World TeamTennis. As a result of the termination, the Mylan WTT pro team markets for the 2014 season will not include Las Vegas and the league will move forward with seven teams. “We are disappointed that we won’t be able to bring the excitement and energy of Mylan WTT to Las Vegas this coming season,” said Mylan WTT CEO/Commissioner Ilana Kloss. “We are grateful to the Las Vegas tennis community, Darling Tennis Center and city leadership for their support and understanding around this unexpected development involving the Neon team franchise ownership. We still believe that Las Vegas would be a terrific home for a Mylan WTT team and hope to revisit Las Vegas as a potential market in the future.”
