Teams competed in nine divisions with the titlists of each capturing a bid to the highly anticipated year-end Nationals in Indian Wells, Calif., November 4-6.

Those advancing to the championship weekend include Fresno Tennis Club, of Kingsburg, Calif.; Hot Fuzz, of Irvine, Calif.; Kick My Ace, of Minneapolis; Sets on the Beach, of Cardiff, Calif.; Sets in the City SD, of San Diego; Iowa, of Grimes, Iowa; Jungernauts, of San Diego; Victorious Secret, of San Diego; and Diehards, of Long Beach, Calif.

3.0 DIVISION
In the five-team 3.0 Division, one team came in with a clear mission. Fresno Tennis Club, of Kingsburg, Calif., posted three decisive double-digit wins during play on Friday and Saturday, but met their match in a close fourth contest against the division runners-up. To capture the 3.0 division, Fresno scraped by Digitized Swing, of Irvine, Calif., 30-29 in their final match on Sunday that took over three hours to play to earn their inaugural bid to Nationals. Led by captain Dave Colby (captain), other qualifying players include Caleb Phellps, Kingsburg, Calif.; Prisco Ramirez, Ramona Turner, Raquel Arroyo, Shirley Stockton and Susana Talamaivao, all of Fresno, Calif.

3.5 DIVISION
The 3.5 Division was contested by four California-based teams which played three round robin matches each to determine a victor. Hometown heroes Hot Fuzz, of Irvine, Calif., caught fire first by dismissing Casual Sets on Friday. They went on to outscore Great Balls of Fire and Tightly Strung in consecutive matches Saturday to go undefeated and clinch the division title. Team members making their first trip to Nationals include Jim Chao (captain), Irvine, Calif.; Caroline Tran, Darlena Tran and Tram Ly, all of Garden Grove, Calif.; Duong Dang and Minh Le, both of Westminster, Calif.; Jenna Kane, Costa Mesa, Calif.; Nick Thipavong, Orange, Calif.; Peter Cheng, Hacienda Heights, Calif.; and FeiBi Liu, Chino Hills, Calif.

4.0 DIVISION
With nine teams vying for a shot at the title, the 4.0 division was divided into two flights for round robin play. In Flight A, three teams finished with a 3-1 record after playing each team in their flight: Beer & Cookies, of Los Angeles; Kick My Ace, of Minneapolis; and Net’s Too High, of La Jolla, Calif. After using winning percentage to determine who would advance to Sunday’s division Final, Kick My Ace narrowly edged out Beer & Cookies and Net’s Too High to meet their championship opponent -- Donchka Travel, of Beverly Hills California. With a trip to Nationals on the line, Kick My Ace prevailed in a close 31-27 win, qualifying for the yearly championship for the first time. Led by captain Kimberly Perla, other team members scoring a trip to the year-end championship include Nicholas Kolell and Elizabeth Graven, all of Minneapolis; Lauren Madsen and Mike Mattingly, both of Golden Valley, Calif.; and Megan Wrobel and Moid Alwy, both of St. Louis Park, Minn.

4.5 DIVISION
In the 4.5 division, one team rose above the rest to earn the chance to play for the championship in November. Sets on the Beach, of Cardiff, Calif., had a team comprised of veterans and newcomers; but the new dynamic didn’t stop them from putting back-to-back-to-back wins together against their competitors on Friday and Saturday. Posting a 32-19 victory over the AV Stormers during their first match, Sets on the Beach played two closer contests Saturday, barely outscoring both Triple B’s and Ironman Crew 26-23 and 30-24, respectively, to claim the division. Titlist team members include Allison Sterett (captain), Cardiff, Calif.; Jesse Steinberg, Katherine Nguyen, Jason Hom and Matthew Previdi, all of San Diego; Stepanka Hastings, Lakeside, Calif.; and Tiffany Kellogg, La Jolla, Calif.

SENIOR 3.5 DIVISION
Three teams suited up to play for the Senior 3.5 Division title over the weekend, with six matches slated throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Serve Aces, of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Sets in the City SD, of San Diego, both scored two wins against Tennis Law, of Temple City, Calif., but split the two matches against one another. As both ended the weekend with a 3-1 record, the title had to be determined by winning percentage, where Sets in the City SD squeaked by Serve Aces, going on to gain the title and a return trip to Nationals. Team members advancing include Lisa Shirley (co-captain), Mike Hasan (co-captain), Anthony Shirley, Donna Dube and Jim Hartman, all of San Diego; and Helen Tuliback, Carlsbad, Calif.

SENIOR 4.0 DIVISION
In a six-team division that gave each team five matches to prove their superiority, it was the team that came the greatest distance to play the tournament that ended up taking the hardware home. Iowa, of Grimes, Iowa, dismissed all four teams in their path to make their way back to the Nationals this year. Led by captain Leslie Shipp, her supporting team members returning to the year-end contest include Kim Gillum, Ankeny, Iowa; Dennis Lonzarich, West Des Moines, Iowa; Ron Bradfield, Fairfield, Iowa; and Georgianna Waters, Foster City, Calif.

SENIOR 4.5 DIVISION
With a recurring champion in the field for the Senior 4.5 Division, the other three teams were aiming to knock out the Jungernauts, of San Diego. However, with a roster of returning players and a few years of experience, the Jungernauts tallied three wins over Friday and Saturday to preserve their title and earn the bid to Nationals for 2016. Players advancing include Peggy Jung (captain), Jim Winters, Libby Jaehnig, Roberto Ancira, Romeo Matias, Ron Beck, Sandy Anderson, and Tony Perez, all of San Diego; Patti Matsuoka, Poway, Calif.

SUPER SENIOR 3.5 DIVISION
Two teams entered the Irvine national qualifier with hopes of advancing to the Nationals later this year; but Victorious Secret, of Orange, Calif., proved too tough to tame as they defeated Mas Serve Aces 32-8 and 29-19 in their two matches. The team is also comprised of veterans and newcomers and will be led by captain Lynda Jackson. Other teammates advancing include Doc Burke, Ed Jackson, Joe Juhasz, Judy Rockland, Ken Croft and Paula Oswald, all of San Diego.

SUPER SENIOR 4.0 DIVISION
In another two-team playoff for a division title, the Super Senior 4.0 contenders faced off in two matches to see which team would be heading to Indian Wells for Nationals in November. In the closer of the two matches, Diehards, of Long Beach, Calif., barely edged Swinging Seniors, of Playa Vista, Calif., 27-24 on Friday. However, the Saturday match told a different story with Diehards dismissing their opponent 32-12 to take a 2-0 round robin record and secure the bid to nationals. In their return to Nationals, the team includes Elizabeth Wood (captain), Sue Leopold, Long Beach, Calif.; Al Jasinskas, Irvine, Calif.; Bob Ng, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; Kathy Thurston, Newport Beach, Calif.; Nick Soon, Lakewood, Calif.; and Vicki Mingus, Seal Beach, Calif.
