World TeamTennis now has a quick and exciting twist for high school students. The X TeamTennis format features co-ed high school teams competing in three sets - men's and women's singles and mixed doubles. The unique WTT format, which is also played in the Professional League, includes no-ad scoring and coaching. The winning team is the team that wins the most total games!
Teams compete at regional events and have the chance to qualify for the X TeamTennis National Championships, which are held annually in August. Teams that qualify for the National Championships will receive free housing and tournament entry. Participants MUST have played high school tennis during the previous academic year. Winners of the national event in August will receive hotel accommodations (airfare/travel not included) to be recognized at WTT Smash Hits event, an annual charity event co-hosted by Elton John and Billie Jean King! The 2009 National Championship was held August 1-2 at the Balboa Bay Beach and Tennis Club in Newport Beach, Calif.
