- Named Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season in 2010, and his third award in four seasons. Was also Coach of the Year in 2007, leading the Lasers to a 13-1 regular season record in his first year as coach.
- Coached the Springfield Lasers to the Western Conference Championship in 2009 and 2010.
- Played seven years in Mylan WTT for Delaware Smash (1996, 2001), Kansas City Explorers (1997-99), New Jersey Stars (1994) and St. Louis Aces (2003).
- Played Davis Cup for South Africa and was an Olympic doubles semifinalist at the 2000 Sydney Games.
- Won seven ATP Tour doubles titles.
- Is the current captain of the South Africa Davis Cup team.
- Started JL's Kids, a program that assists with bringing sports to the children of South Africa.
